Description: There are only a handful or two of Vermont Pontiled Medicines; this is one that should be in everyone’s collection. This is a great example, strongly embossed and sparkling. A scarce medicine from Ludlow (Okemo ski area), Vermont.
William Bacon was in business from 1856 to 1857 in Ludlow. Town of History of Ludlow list bacon as one of the owners /editors to The Blotter in 1854.
Also known for his Essence of Jamaica Ginger and Excelsior Hair Oil.
Advertisement shown in Bill & Betty Wilson’s 19th Century Medicines shows Bacon also sold Colognes, Cooking Extracts, Essences, Inks, Blacking, Shaving and Toilet Soaps, Handkerchief Perfumes also dealer in Books, Stationery, Toys, Confectionery, Music and Musical Instruments. Definitely not a one trick pony.
